I would contend that it is YOU who is the arrogant one here, assuming that you can be the "photo police" for the world.

You THINK you've done good for pBase today, but most of the emails I've received today shows me that you have done nothing but put another black mark on pBase.

And, being a guy who stands up for pBase often, I know that it really doesn't need MORE black marks. you haven't helped anyone here.

and i hate to say it bob... but i think you are out of line.....

and people are right... you are relentlessly complaining about this because you don't seem to accept that others can have an equally right, but different set of morals than you.

just how many emails did you have to send to slug?

1.

If you guys think I am the only one who feels this way you are sadly mistaken. There are folks out there that are 10 times more conservative on this issue who believe images of this type have no business on this planet let alone Pbase. For all I know Slug may never had even seen my email, he just saw the picture and acted on it. You think this is the first time this has happened? He has removed items people have complained about before. You're not special, Ray.

If you guys don't like the way things are done around here than petition Slug about it. I have no more influence around here than you do. I just happen to have an opinion that is different than yours. Get over it.

I think we realise you are not the only one who was against Ray's image showing up there, but the point is that there was clearly more support for it from this thread and the comments in Ray's gallery.

I can accept that slug may have acted upon its withdrawal independently, but will we ever know?

If you think that we're going to believe that you're not the head cheerleader, then perhaps you are mistaken.

And I just happen to have an opinion too. One that happens to like and want to see camera arts which include things that provoke thought and emotions, not just more puppies, cats and Johnny's football game. Think outside the box for a change.

It's really very simple: the big majority here are photographers judging each others work. That picture was the most popular for a reason. If Bobby starts browsing though the millions of photos in order to report any abuse of his low moral standards, he's doing anything but taking pictures. So then what's the point being a member Bob? Everyone paid the same amount of money for this site, including the poster of this particular photo. He should have his money returned if this site can't offer him what he's looking for.
Since I'm known for always giving my opinion, even if not asked for: Bob, I think you are pathetic, and a perfect example of what the morally perverse and hypocritical society produces. Who are you to set moral standards here? Do you think you're God or something? Don't you have anything better to do than to harass other people? Doing that is also abuse. Should we all be sending mails in order to ban you from this site? Be an adult Bob, live and let live. If you don't want to see the picture, then don't look at it. And accept not all people here use your crazy logic.

Oh, and this is the picture all the commotion is about. If you're tuning in only now, you also have a right to know. Copyright hmetal of course.

It's a beautiful image. Lovely curves and lighting.

We must feel sorry for Bob. For he comes from a country that had a national meltdown over Janet Jacksons' 40 yr old nipple.

I can only agree that it is a beutiful picture. It's always impressive when someone finds a new way to show a familiar object.

I think you guys can stop now with the personal attacks. Everyone knows your opinion of the subject of this thread and some agree and some do not. Slug made a decision..slag him, not another member.

No need to slag Slug, he is only acting on complaints from self-appointed morality and image police, such as Townsend has decreed himself.

However, it would be nice if someone from pBase's administration would at least acknowledge, if not respond to my emails. I've sent three. I only ask for one reply..

The first email was to complain about the removal of my images from popular photos, and was a knee-jerk reaction immediately after I was told my images were gone from there.

The second question/email, after realizing that it was Slug's decision to remove what he considered objectional, is "why were ALL of my voted photos removed from popular photos rather than just that one supposedly 'offending' photo?"

The third, send last night was asking, "if I move my 'Veneris' photo to a private gallery (or at least out of PAD), will you please reinstate my other photos' proper place in popular galleries? Also, why is it that ALL of a member's photos are removed from popular photos, rather than just blacklisting the offending photo from popular photos?"

I haven't had a single reply. A reply to the last one would be preferable, since it solves the problem for EVERYONE. Townsend and his ilk are happy because they can sit in Pleasantville, content with hospital corners photos, and I would be content that my other voted photos are not affected.

Again, it's Slug's website, not Bob's. Slug/Emily are the persons who set up Pbase's policies and the final arbiters of what is on or off THEIR website. You are taking out your frustration with Slug's decison on someone who disagrees with your opinion of your photo.

I think the photo should have stayed myself, and it would slowly retreat down the line as other photos get voted on.

Also I feel that the PAD galleries should have their own PAD popular galleries because, just like when the political gallery games were going on, visitors to the popular galleries are getting a skewed view of the millions of photos on Pbase. One of the main reasons PADs dominate the populars is the friendly interaction and support between PADers. While this practice is not only healthy and should be encouraged, it overwhelmes those of us who can't participate in the PADs and our votes get washed away. The pleasant feeling of encouragement should be available to non-Pad Pbasers as well.
