:) , hmmm, peter, I thought you were "hungry for constructive criticism" ???

Constructive criticism yes, just couldn't help myself and took a friendly jab at inflated popularity numbers and one sentence ego boosters.

This is so funny! Thanks for putting things in perspective. I want constructive criticism. It also helps to know if what you were trying to achieve did actually work. Once in a while there are those WOW!!! images out there and about all you can think of to say, is WOW!

On one of the forums and I can't for the life of me find it again, someone suggested talking about techniques used and sharing that type of information. I am happy to share the little bit I know and I have responded to questions about how to do Polaroid transfers and lifts and SX-70 manipulations. I have mainly done this via email messages to ones who have asked. But, maybe a techniques to share area or posting an image in the Show and Tell done in a special way and describing your technique/process would work.

Anyway, thanks for the laugh.--Rene

don't get me wrong peter, I liked your comment! it gave me a good smile too. but I just instantly wondered whether you had a "call for comments" on your profile page as well - and that gave me my second " :) ".

Certainly, I prefer profound constructive critique over 6 sentences with helpful tips on how to improve my stuff over a one-word "wow" or "beautiful" - but even the latter helps me in a certain way - and not only as ego-booster. Why? I have been asked by a restaurant to show at the end of this year for a couple of months some of my photographs. I don't have to explain that this is a huge chance to get to be known better and to hopefully also sell the one or the other photo (to decent Swiss prices :) ) even if I will - of course - make the selection of photos which I will show there dependend on my guess what is "right" for that place and occasion, I still would like to have some prior feeling which of my photos are more likely to be liked by the general public. and that's why I also just like to hear a one-sentenced "I like this one"-comment!

cheers and y'all keep on shootin'! /blu

Oleg, blu and others...most things I've seen have been so

Post Sat Mar 19, 2005 8:47 pm

different fromwhat I photograph and how i do it...that it all sends me in different directions. But it's very inspiring. because I'm very visual it's also a nice way for me to learn. i also really like seeing places I don't get to see real often.
that's really cool.

Again, Thanks, and a Suggestion

Post Fri Apr 01, 2005 4:29 pm

Not only should we look at each others' work and leave a comment, take a moment to go to the random photos pages and click on one. Then look hard at what the person was trying to do and accomplishing.

You will be surprised at the inspiration you may receive from the most mundane snap shot.

And as of old, visitors should leave their calling cards. Let me know you were at my galleries. I shall return your favor. Popularity aside, we put our work up to be viewed. Let us reassure each other that someone is looking. *G*

Respectfully and hopefully submitted,
Ellsworth Weaver

A Couple New Photos in My Pixie Gallery

Post Thu Apr 21, 2005 2:51 pm

I am kind of proud of what I have done with Pixie as Ms Sandy Claws. Would appreciate the crowd going over and looking. Of course, if you felt like voting for the gallery, there might be one or two more pictures posted soon.

Thanks in advance,

Ok. I have looked at everyones galleries and posted comments at quite a few. I will have to say that Larimar was my personal favorite. She has some really interesting shots/angles/composition. I like to see someone that goes against the grain and captures images that most people would never think to capture. Great job everyone and keep up the good work.
