Tips & Opinions on Seasonal Galleries

Post Tue Mar 01, 2005 8:05 pm

Since Fall of 2003 I have been forming a series of galleries that are broken down into the season they were shot in. (i.e, Fall, Winter, Spring Summer) Basically I run around my local region and try to take good photos of it.

While I am getting some good responses, I never see these galleries or photos voted for in anyway and I am wondering what I can do to improve my work. I really enjoy traveling around, hunting for images to make but being that I have really only been shooting since 2003 I feel I have a lot to learn.

Any comments with critiques, advice or general opinions would be greatly appreciated. Even if it’s to say, “loose this one, it sucks!â€

The galleries that seem to have the most impact (IMHO) seem to be those with a focus, or theme. Large galleries, with lots and lots of photos, are overwhelming, for one thing, and come across as fragmentary. Kind of like looking through a box of photos that aren't really organized beyond "What I Did Last Summer." Note that your gallery title includes the word "random", which might indicate how you're using it.

Just a thought.

Your photos are very good, but you might want to consider some editing. Many of them are the same scene but repeated with a minor variation in exposure or viewpoint.
