Pathetic. This just shows me that if someone (or a small group of people) bitches and moans, they get their way and popular opinion goes out the door.

No, I have never complained about a photo on Pbase before. The reason why I did for this one was that I didn't choose to see this photo, it chose me. And you are right about another thing, there are worse pictures out there and until Slug developes some clear guidelines and then enforces them on a regular basis then I guess nothing has changed.

I think Slug needs to develop filters so we can block certain member from looking at our photos at all. Since you bitched and moaned so much, I would like to be able to ban you from viewing any of my images.. I mean, they are so inappropriate, you don't deserve to see them.

He's a jerk and this whole turn of events is sad and pathetic. It's too bad that pBase now falls far below the standard that it should be kept up to, which is that the members should have been given a chance to "vote" on whether the photos should be removed.

The PROPER way to handle this is to let us all vote on each and every image that people report as "abuse." If the majority votes to keep it, then that's the way it should be.

..but then this isn't my site so, c'est la vie.

You know, this is nonsense. Look at this page: http://www.pbase.com/galleries?view=pop ... 8&period=7

Look at the photo that got 5 votes, something about "Jade." That's FAR worse than my image yet it is in the popular photos area. Bit of a double-standard don't you think?

That's a fact. I think this was a t-crossing discussion for Pbase, and I think they went the wrong way.

How arrogant of you that you think I would care. There is already a filter in place, it is called the delete button.

As far as the other image, I reported it as well and I will continue to browse thru the popular photos for images of this nature and report them. The email address is abuse@pbase.com

"Fixed." An interesting word.

This is the slippery slope. (And if this seems a naive statement, I am naive.)

Playing the Devil's advocate, as I have no way to know who voted on the image: consider that maybe that the way "the image" found its way into the populars was to force a precedent-setting "test case?" Think about it, a useful strategy...

i have been following this thread for 5 pages now...

and i hate to say it bob... but i think you are out of line.....

and people are right... you are relentlessly complaining about this because you don't seem to accept that others can have an equally right, but different set of morals than you.

just how many emails did you have to send to slug?

Interesting thread. Personally, I'd rather have Slug and Emily spending their time keeping the site up and running.

BTW, I don't recall seeing porn stars and vibrators in the popular galleries before this debate.

Me thinks Pandora's box has been opened (no pun intended :) ). Perhaps those that think pbase should be a "child proof" site should invest some of their time and money in a new site that satisfies their needs, rather than crusade to change pbase.

Finally, I agree with the poster that pointed out this is an international site and the "standards" need to be set accordingly.

Now back to taking photos...........

Hi everybody,
I don't understand why discussions in forums tend to be so infected and I really dont' understand why people are so quick to bitch at each other like they do in this thread. Are we not adults on PBase?

As I stubled onto this thread today I haven't seen the picture that started the argument but I have seen some pictures with nudity on PBase before. Some I would call art and others migt be seen as porn, but that is my personal opinion. Others would put the line between the pictures higher or lower.

If I understand this correct, the thing to do if you are offended by a picture is to report it and then the webmaster will decide what to do. If you do not use a system where every picture is judged before it is posted this must be the only way to control the content of PBase. Judging every picture before it is posted is impossible on PBase where so many pictures are posted each day!

I don't see a problem here. Be prepared to sometimes stumble upon a picture that you don't like and don't let kids surf around on PBase by themselves. (I guess the shouldn't surf around on the Internet by themselves anyway).

Post and let Post :)

In my travels through Pbase over the last 6 weeks or so, I've not seen many threads with personal attacks until this one. This forum has been a refreshing change from the political and/or religious forums I've spent time in before. I think that this particular issue raises hackles because adults seldom like for some other person to act as the morality police, determining what can and cannot be seen on an intenational, public site. Bob has taken it upon himself to be and do just that. He is now on a mission, as per his last post, to seek out and complain about every nude photo in the popular photos/galleries pages that he finds personally offensive. It would be merely pathetic if he was doing this without it having any consequence for others, but, as we have seen, his actions have lead to censoring the original photo, so his new hobby is not only pathetic and irksome, it is rather alarming.
