Results Photo Contest #18

It's been my honor to host this weeks Show and Tell Photo Contest. I tried to pick a challenging topic, and those who participated really stepped up to the challenge. As usual, judging such good talent is never easy, and I really found it difficult. I tried to pick images where the photographer really worked on composition and exposure, as almost every one did. It was a huge challenge to choose my favorites and put them in some order, but here are the results, along with my rationale.
Honorable mention #3 by dharden
What I liked about this shot was the small amount of motion in the background. It takes up such a small area of the photograph, but has a profound effect on the total image. It creates a wonderfuly serene mood.

I loved the clarity of this image, and the quality of the reflection in the water. All the elements of a great photograph were shown here, exposure, composition, color balance. Just very well done.

I loved the sense of mystery in this shot. Who is that guy? What is he thinking? Is he going to jump? The motion of the water gives a great sense of danger, and the black and white treatment delivers an Alfred Hitchcock aura.

What a great idea, well executed...and on film no less! I loved the fact that Dominic used both natural starlight and artificial light to make this shot. His astrophotography is amazing.

There is so much of a story and a feeling of terror iin this picture...I really like it. The figure looks lost in the fire, yet somehow under control. What a wonderful image!

I fell in love with this shot as soon as I saw it. I felt that it had all of the elements of a really great image; motion, wonderful color, great foreground AND great background, marvelous dof, and most important... great composition. It is just a stunningly beautiful photograph. Well done
So colinb3469, the baton in now in your hands for Show and Tell #19. Thanks to all for the great work and continued participation.
Regards to all,
Chas
