Pet Portrait: Take a look and give me your comments

I managed to get some studio lighting triggered on my Coolpix 990 for some pet portraits. Here's a sample:

Looks like you are having fun, studio lighting is a great step up from on camera flash and learning is the best part of the journey. :D

My $0.02 worth:

It's a great starting shot but the background is dull and does not transition well for my tastes.

This picture due to the shallow FOV would be better if you used it as a center for a montage, one possibility would be to take different pictures of Maverick at different hours then make this the face of the clock and the other pictures of activities during that time (running, walking, jump for a frisbee, sleeping, eating). You could even use similar shots (to this one) by getting reactions from him, squeeky toys, strange noises and water pistols can make some great reactions. The reaction shots can go with this one to make a 4 or 9 position montage (tic-tac-toe style).

Another Idea would be to do some nonlinear cutting in on the background lto give it a more dynamic feel like this one http://www.pbase.com/image/24060016. I would advise looking at all of Phyllis' animal gallery for some fun ideas.

Good luck and keep shooting ..

Good suggestions. This shot was one of a photo montage I built similar to your idea. I loved Phyliss's galleries!
