WINNERS!!! 32nd EDITION OF THE SHOW AND TELL COMPETITION

There have been some great photos submitted and it’s been an interesting week checking back in each day to see the entries coming in. I’ve discovered some pbaser’s I hadn’t seen before, some of which I will definitely be keeping an eye on.

I’ve added some comments to some images directly – if I haven’t commented on your work and you’d like my opinion I will be happy to give you feedback, just send me a message.

Three honorable mentions (the order is arbitrary):

Lee Berman
Image

Great example of dramatic perspective, it is the angle that makes this image. I feel it has kind of a 1980’s feel to the colours. This crispness of the shadow is very cool and keeps your concentration as it has extra details of the pool that you can’t see.

Joy Buapromma
Image

Not technically a single photo, however I really like the concept of the pair of images. There are a few more very good ones in the gallery too.

J De Pould

The perspective here is great and the DOF brings your eye to Bartholomew the caterpillar while leaving enough in the background so you can imagine a group of children excitedly circled around.

Third place:
Jeff Seltzer
Image

Very imposing image, makes the ticket office look big and powerful, but the sky gives an eerie carnival feeling.

Second place:
Vibhav and Sakshi
Image

Simplicity, strong compositional lines and fantastic use of colour.

WINNER!
Tim Goodspeed

Great image. I love the feeling of atmosphere here. I also appreciate the effort that went into capturing the street empty and to plan exactly where the walker needed to be in the shot.

I have to admit, I’m not usually a fan of travel style photography, but I highly recommend people take a look at Tim’s gallery. Some great travel photography, all very concise and every single image has been thought through in detail.

Firstly, thank you very much for your comments on my image, I'm honored that it was chosen.

Also, the winner's image is quite dramatic, but the part that really struck me was that I instantly thought of a street from Dickens' Christmas Carol.

Just noticed that our picture is chosen #2....Thanks a lot for the comments and choosing it and we are honored...This one was actually taken by Sakshi...My perspective was more straight in the middle while this was hers...amazing, how simply chainging the perspective changes the image completely....

Thanks again!
