Ok, here it goes. You guys have made it extremely difficult: quite a lot of great work displayed here. Phew. Just a few very good images that didn't make it to the top spot.

Again: it was extremely difficult (I've been in the jury for the best Dutch photojournalist of the year, so trust me: I've been exposed to the gruesome task of choosing a winner out of outstanding work). But here it is:

The third place

Georges Noblet

The shared second place (ok, I couldn't choose here, both great images...)

Joost Bossuyt

And the winner is....:

Congratulations Woodstock1103!!! And the burden of organising and judging the next contest is on your shoulders :)

Best regards and thanks for all the great images everybody!

I agree that you must have had a couple of agonizing hours trying to pick a winner from a pot of winners.

People should visit Woodstock's gallery his winning entry is from, it is about a small town being practically legislated out of existence. That gallery is called The tale of the little red hearts.

Paul,

thanks for the credit you granted to my picture, I highly appreciate.
Thanks for the focus you put on the subject the picture is about by picking it.
The other nominees have sent in great stuff, must have been a hard decision.
Now I am up for a good night's sleep, so I can come up with an appropriate new subject tomorrow.

Regards,

Peter

The gallery fron which Woodstack's winning photo was taken, "The tale of the little red hearts", is simply outstanding. Great photos and narrative. It most certainly is worth a look.

Thanks for the kind words and kudoos to everybody that entered the contest. They didn't make my life easier for a while there :)

But seriously, as a veteran photojournalist (yep, granddad speaking here) it's great to see that so many talents are picking up photography and producing images that are on par of work that I see daily from fellow photojourno's.

Best regards,
Paul

I just went through all these and thought that if I had to choose I would
have a meltdown! because there are so many knock-outs here.
