First of all, thanks to all who posted. There were many great entries, which made judging no easy task. My respect goes out to all previous and future judges of this competition...
I managed to get my list of favourites down to eight. In judging I did put most emphasis on the mood of the photos.
Here are my honorable mentions:
By Thomas Fredriksen:
I like the graphic effect and the weathered looks of the bricks.
By Andy Moore:
Great composition, beautiful tones in both highlights and the sky. The door in the back is interesting. Is is open/look through or closed with a mirror attached?
By Markus Grompe:
I like the atmosphere on this photo, with the mighty castle and inviting but inaccessible park. The moon is a nice balance for the well lit wall. Too bad for the blown highlights in the roof...
By craigbob:
I love the effect of tilt-shift lenses, as is also done by dutch photographer Frank van der Salm. Don't know whether this one is tilt-shift or a photo of a scale model though...
By Terry Bowker:
The fog and monochrome tint give this photo a great mood. I think suspence is a suitable term for it.
THIRD place
Malcolm Niekirk:
Wet road, reflections, movement, different colour temperatures, composition all come together in a great way.
SECOND place
Randall Fox:
What's happening here? The lone car seems to stand still in an odd place, other traffic moving around. Like a scene from a gangster movie.
Great use of the light trails and the red lights add to the mood too.
FIRST place
Agron Islami:
Tranquil, peaceful, but also coldness and melancholia. Are we really alone in this park? I have different feelings at the same time.
I also love the tones and DOF.
For me, at this moment, this is the winner.
Once again, thanks to all for participating. Agron, congratulations! It's up to you now.
