What are these?

Post Wed Apr 28, 2004 8:30 am

I could use some help from bird photographers. I found two new kinds of birds on my deck that I've never seen before. Here are their pictures...anyone know what they are? I hate to post untitled pictures, and I don't know what to call these.

Also, I took a walk today and found this bird that I think is a warbler, but that's just a guess because of its sound and the fact its small and stripish. Or could it be a flycatcher of some sort? It's a pretty bad picture because of the distance and enlargement, but you can see that it has a red/rust head and yellow on its neck and rump and sides. Anyone recognize this one?

Click on the links to see the big pictures. And thanks in advance for helping me to identify them.

Last one looks a bit like a palm warbler...but then it will depend on where you saw it and what it sounds like.

here are a couple fun sites you might find helpful...wild birds gives you a sample of their songs.

http://www.wildbirds.com (look under the identification section)

http://www.enature.com (a little bit of everything here)

hope it helps.

Steve and Sald, thanks for the help! I didn't know there even was a bird called "white throated sparrow." I have heard of song sparrows but had no idea what they look like. As for the third bird, I will look through that site when I get home and see what I can find.

Thanks again for your fast reply! :

Yep, Sald was right...the third one is a palm warbler! Looks exactly like the bird I found in a bird book. Thanks!
