150th Show & Tell Competition: Details but not macro WINNER

Post Sat Mar 13, 2010 9:54 pm

Thank you all that have submitted photos to the contest.

To be the judge over so many good entries is not an easy task, especially for a layman without any formal photographic education.

When I was choosing the subject I had some criteria that I thought should be the leading ones when I was going to pick the winner.
I have kept the original ones but also expanding them a bit. The winning photo is definitely within the scope, but it also has
qualities beyond the scope.

What’s important to remember is that a detail is not necessarily something small, but a part of something bigger.

I have picked 8 pictures that I think is very good photography, showing things or patterns that most people would not have noticed
if the artist had not put it in front of their eyes.

The first five is no special order.

Jocelyn, Randall, Terry

, ,

Maaike, Sandi

,

Third place, Chas has made a great shot from a new angle of Tour de Eiffel.
What I especially like is the light that underlines the structure.

Second place, Mike has with the setting of light created an interesting photo of a rather simple object.

First place and Winner, Johns photo of a hand marked buy hard labour is definitely a photo of a detail,
but it also has a message to us as human beings. I recommend that you all take a look at the other photos in
the gallery which this photo is a part of.

Congratulations John, you are the one who challenge us next.

Wow...thanks Mats!!!

A real honor, especially with all the great entries.
I wasn't expecting that one.

Thanks for all the comments from everyone also.
I'll be back in the next 24 hours with, hopefully, another great topic.

Thanks again,
John
