This challenge is to find beauty where it may not be usually found. Unusual beauty may be the kind eyes behind a pierced face, the abstract design of decaying life, a rusting car being turned into nature's planter, the powerful yet destructive beauty of an approaching tornado...

Find beauty where it may not be usually found. Look beyond the traditional surface to show the beauty within. Look outside of the norm, and find the unusual beauty that lies all around us...

The tufas of Mono Lake in the warmth of first light. One of my all time favorite subjects.


I admit, these scraggy trees were spookie as we scurried around the dunes of Death Valley in the dark.


What is it we love about old cars. And rusty old cars... a photographer's dream come true, right?

Barbed Wire... Not typically considered "beautiful", but I was pleased with the way the branches in the background mimicked the lines of the subject.




Used Horseshoes... These were going to be thrown away. The curves and texture appealed to me and I had to photo them before the blacksmith tossed them out.
