CHALLENGE: Triptych

Triptych:
1. A work consisting of three painted or carved panels that are hinged together.
2. A hinged writing tablet consisting of three leaves, used in ancient Rome.
[From Greek triptukhos, threefold : tri-, tri- + ptux, ptukh-, fold.]

Let's update this a little here. Post three images side by side, joined by a common theme. A little bit of prose might come in handy as to why you consider them linked, whether it's by subject, feeling... or whatever.

Just to keep it bandwidth-friendly, please use MEDIUM-size images.

My first offering:

WINDOWS. Wherever they may be, the first frame that all of use ever see, and something that in photography we all try to recreate in our images - with our own little windows on the world.

Interesting idea. I have a gallery based on a similar idea here. But those are pairs - threes are more difficult. This is what I have come up with:

These three are linked by a common technique - a photo of a building reflected in water, rotated so the building appears "right way up". From Dublin, Brussels, and Sofia.





The next three are all pictures of buildings taken facing directly into the sun - tricky, I have a lot more of these that didn't quite work! From Evora (Portugal), Dublin, and Bansko (Bulgaria).



Finally, these three are obviously all sunsets. But the reason I see them as a set is the way the silhouettes are weighted towards the right of the picture in each case. From Istanbul, Dublin, and Santa Monica (USA).
