I'd like your opinion

Post Thu Jun 10, 2004 7:00 pm

I have posted this photo in my Picture a day gallery and got 24 page views, but not a single comment. I consider this photo to be as good or better than others that I have received many comments on. Does this picture just suck?

Any comments would be appreciated. Tell me if you think it sucks too!

Nah, it's fine. But if this forum is like some other photo forums, I visit absence or presence of comments isn't necessarily indicative of anything. The PaDs are growing in number so it becomes more difficult to keep up.

I think ist a good photo, and I understand your frustrations. I too am eager for feedback but it seems that pbasers do alot of looking but not too much commenting. I am starting to come to grips with this. either way its a nice shot!

Hi Joe

With respect, this is an image of an image - nothing more. Now, if you had an elderly man looking longingly at the image, then THAT would have been a good image - just by the juxtaposition of reality and non-reality. Just my two cents.

Cheers

I agree with Sheila, it's a correct photo but the originality or the real value of the pic is in the painting. Maybe adding an object or subject will be better.

It happens to all of us. That´s why we have to make more comments. Don´t be Shy; everybody gets a happy day when other people, in another place, look at your work and tell you something. It is a Must. Same for Votes (wich we should be able to see, because it is the expression of a positive comment). That´s why I´m going to comment your picture where it should be comment. By the way, thanks for sharing.

It is a pic of a pic.....I found much better photos in your galleries. The study of red on red and red door among others. I would show one of them before this one, they show your use of composition MUCH better.

I think the posted pic would have been cool if you had a homeless person w a bottle at the bottom.....glamour and glamourless side of alcohol!

keep shooting!

After visiting your gallery I've notice that this picture needs to be seen from the distance, if you look at it in medium sice you can apreciate the real composition, and the picture inside the picture turns into an element of all the picture. I want to say that the blue of the sky and the lights make a pretty frame.

Now i like it much more

Hope you understand my complicated explanation

Thank you all for your time spent on looking at this image. I guess I really didn't do a good job of conveying what I was seeing with this photograph. This mural hits you right in the face in a section of St. Louis that is pretty dreary. Another angle perhaps or including the mundane surroundings might have helped.

Anyway, thanks again guys.(and gals).
