While it's nice to win the S&T Competition from time to time, it's difficult for me picking a winner. I was a bit unsure of the subject as it's not everyone's cup of tea, but I really like the diversity of the images that were posted, and as always the quality was excellent. In my view everyone was a winner. Thank you for participating.

First the HM's in no particular order:



Terry: Really liked this image, as almost always we see the whole plane or the cockpit, but rarely the complex landing gear. Very effective in b&w.



Paul: Really liked the details on this helicopter and its particular design to suck up large quantities of water and drop them. I like the perspective and the presence of a crew member for scale.



John: I like the tones, details and composition and the fact that this must surely be very old.



Third Place Markus: The dark and brooding feel of this is very effective. For many of us there is an aura of mystery and danger associated with subjects like this and it's conveyed well here.



Second Place Arnie: The long focal length and excellent framing emphasize the great size of the container ships and cranes. Really impressive.



First Place Pawel - The hazy low lighting, and the jungle of tracks, switches, lights, wire and masts make for an engrossing and memorable image of a metallic landscape.
