Many thanks to all of the people who submitted entries for this challenge. I wish I could pick more than one winner because the top 3 places all deserved that top spot.

First place goes to Chris Lock for his "Flying High cover the Grand Canyon" image. The dappled light and lushness of the canyon come together very nicely for a wonderful window seat landscape capture.

More of Chris's images can be seen at http://www.pbase.com/christophertravels

Second place goes to Gill Kopy for her "The Harry Potter Via Duct" image. She managed to capture a unique landmark against a beautiful landscape and also manged to include the mode of transportation.

More of Gill's images can be seen at: http://www.pbase.com/gillk

Third place, also a train image, goes to John C. de Freitas for his "2011 - Rocky Mountains - Alberta - Canada" image. I thought this to be the better image from a technical standpoint and really conveyed the essence of traveling through the northern Rockies.

More of John's images can be seen at: http://www.pbase.com/jcdefreitas

Honorable mentions:
Terry Bowkers' "Mount Hood"

Ken Zaret's "Colorado East Flyover 93"

Robin Lew's "San Francisco Bay Panorama .. 2942_4_5_6."

Again, thanks to all who entered and made this a really difficult challenge to judge. Now we get to see what Chris has in store for the next challenge.

Thank-you for selecting me as winner, it is a real honour. The other entries are outstanding, and to be selected among those is an honour. Thank-you

However, I'll be away starting next week and so I'll be unable to host the next contest. I have informed the administration team. I hope the transfer of hosting the next contest to the second place winner is an easy one.

Thank-you again

Regretfully yours

Chris

I agree with Ken interesting theme, I would join in but traveling a lot of late and I could not handle judging.
Congrats to all the winners, all good stuff.
