I think if you try naming your files to indicate their contents you will soon get much more volume. Not many people will enter in the search fearure "PA120009.JPG" when looking for cute cat pictures etc. The same goes for the gallery use words that indicate it's contents. If you do that you'll soon get to your goals. Pbase photos are often pulled up in google by their file names (if they have large numbers of hits they'll be near the top of the list... this sort of results in positive feedback getting people arriving at your site from google and other outside of pbase sources further increasing the volume and this results in higher listing in some search engines). Hope this helps.

Is that a fact? Have you tested that using Nedstats or other system? I would really like to know.

Well some of my individual pictures especially those with high hit numbers (around 10-20k) or those in galleries with over 60k hits if I type their file name in google they usually come up number one. (eg bikini hottie.jpg, soaked girl.jpg, poster calendar 1.jpg, etc) and even part of their name will often do it (eg Panorama Calendar 2004 ). Also from the e-mails and messages I have gotten it appears that the bulk of my visitors to my calendar template gallery surfed in via google and yahoo. If you use the following keywords in google "2004 free calendar templates" it comes in around #4. I have a gallery called "Nikon ES-E28 slide copy adapter" featuring pictures I digitized from slides using this tool and it often googles pretty high when I paste in the gallery title often ahead of Nikon and next to amazon.com! I've answered so many tech questions on that thing via e-mail I think Nikon should pay me! If you read a few of the comments at the bottom of my http://www.pbase.com/455rocket/calendar_template gallery it seems that search engines provide many of my visitors, plus the e-mails I have received at my hotmail address suggest surfers are the bulk of my volume.

Wow...So, it is true. Thanks a lot for your quick answer. While I ask you, I addes some of my galleries to google ("add a link" in google´s page). Now they appear in special search, but after 1325 pages with better rank. You´re right, but it is a matter of ranking average in the google algorithm. So, congratulations.

I have never added my galleries to google yet they appear in searches this can be seen by the Nedstat I have installed

I understand it is a good idea to change the name but I use the name as a referance to the original negative in a very simple filing system I would be lost if I had to find the picture "bikini girl 34" again.
Does anybody have a method that works both ways?

I can't see why it wouldn't work if you append or prefix the old name with some descriptive content eg "7066-18-pb bikini oil.jpg" or "bikini oil 7066-18-pb.jpg" instead of "7066-18-pb.jpg" That way it would get pulled up in searches and you'd still have your filing system intact. If you used words from several different languages you'd probably get even more volume. I haven't personally listed my galleries with Google either, I'm not sure if pbase submits listings itself or it's just the Google spiders crawling around the web that generate these submissions. I know entering multiple submissions for the same site in google can get you delisted so I don't try and list myself.

Sometimes. Some galleries of Users that do not pay appear and others don´t. It looks like the "googlebot" (google´s robot) only considers a segment of the pages -wheter they are paid or not.

True only in theory. What the googlebot considered to be a unique site is almost always a lot of site that have references in between; my site and your site could be only one in google´s ideal.

At least this is what I´ve learn over these years, bye.
