I've just gotten brave enough to try out my new monos.
This is intimidating. If photos are taken in bright sunlight or with an in-camera flash nobody expects much, so mediocrity is tolerated. However set up some stands and pull out a Sekonics and greatness is expected. Ouch, this hurts.
Don't even tell me about my background! It's a bedsheet hastily draped over a mirror at my TX gulf coast condo..I get what I pay for...looked at some real stuff today.
For any of you who are considering buying some studio lights be advised...learning curve ahead.
This is my very, very first trial shoot with a monolight. White Lightning X800 to by precise. Gentle critique will be adequate.
Most of what I tried is a single bounce-umbrella-left and white wall right for fill and unavoidable spill from everywhere in the small condo living room...ie. minimalist.
If all sublects were as comfortable in front of a lens as my son's girlfriend is we'd all have an easier time with this art.
She's gunna kill me for posting the last couple inside shots. No makup,right out of the shower. I like them because they show her as she really is...a kid looking all grown up!
