Pbase Messing Up Colors of My Pics!!

Post Wed Sep 01, 2004 10:44 am

Is anyone having issues of when uploading a new album from a zip file that the colors are way off? I just checked some pics I uploaded of some butterflies, and the colors are all whacked out, and also the pics are darker...I compared this to the photos on my harddrive.

As an experiment, I opened a Fotki account and uploaded the same album via Compupic (the program I use to organize my pics, though I do edit them in Photoshop), and the photos uploaded just fine.

I don't like Fotki though...it is unprofessional looking and the quality of "clients" suck compared to here. But if Pbase is fucking up my photos.....

No need for the expletives. PBase is not doing anything to your images unless you have checked the processing on upload box. Do you know what color space you have used for your images? Web browsers only understand the sRGB color space so if you have used anything else (Adobe RGB for example) in Photoshop, your images will display with incorrect colours in a browser. So, first troubleshooting item is to check the color space of the images that you have uploaded and make sure that you have unchecked PBase's processing option.

Processing by PBase is only one possible answer, but it is off by default. It is more likely a colorspace issue -- IE your images are in the Adobe RGB colorspace rather than sRGB. As I explained, browers can only display sRGB properly. If your images look OK at home, but "dull" on another computer, the monitor settings probably need to be adjusted.

I just looked at your images and, apart from focus problems in a few of them, they look OK to me.
