First try at a Dslr...another world eh!

Post Wed Feb 09, 2005 8:45 pm

After nearly £900 quid I have purchased a Nikon D70.
Great camera but gonna take for ever to learn after a point and shoot digital Camera.
Any others recently changed to the Dslr range and learning from scratch?
How have you got on so far?
My attempts are in the gallery below
Any comments, good or bad there would be appreciated.

Kindest Regards
Steve

Excellent shots, Steve. I'm still trying to talk myself into laying down a few bucks for a DSLR. Quite a bite for a hobby. We'll see what this year brings.

Bought my first camera (Coolpix 5400) in September 2004 & then upgraded to D70 in mid-December.
Didn't understand that with the 5400 I was screwing everything up with the digital zoom until too late.
Have taken about 3k pics with the D70 & just broke out of Macro & Action modes about a week ago - but nothing decent yet.
Some of my pics are at:
http://www.pbase.com/anonymous_guy/macro_images
& all taken with the 60mm macro lens (except the Rooster).
A friend has given me an 80-200mm, but can't really get to grips with it.

Thought I was doing well until I started looking at the images in PBase - will just have to keep working on it.

Had a look at both of your gallerys and blimey have I got to read up on what I am doing !Brilliant images and stunning macros too
Will keep having a check of both galleries for sure.
We all start somewhere eh!
The Dslr seems a different world to what I have been used to.....

I think your learning curve will be quite short. Excellent shots!!

A friend gave me a D100 body and now I'm saving my pennies to buy some glass for it. I have been trying some old manual lenses I have from my F2a but I can't wait to aquire some newer glass.

Keep up the good work.

Steve,

just had a quick look at your shots - you have a great eye for a good picture.

You'll do well on the D70, I know.

Going through my files today, I uncovered my very first Canon 300D shot. I bought it last winter and was eager to try it out before it got dark. So funny as it was so naff not having read how the damn thing worked!

Anyway, my tranistion to a DSLR transformed my work.
