Photographer as a Commentator (for Discussion& Posting)

Post Wed Feb 16, 2005 9:27 pm

Lately it has occured to me that it matters what we shoot, how we shoot, and especially how we process the shot. Each of those makes a statement about how we feel about a situation.

In proof at that, I wish to offer three pictures, actually one picture processed three ways. These three are from my gallery XX-Beautiful Women (http://www.pbase.com/neovolatile/beautiful_women).

How does each affect you? What message do you get from each? Or am I just "full of it" (and myself)?

Pardon my not embedding these but the link thing seems not to work today.

I welcome your discussion, your posting of your own series, whatever.

Respectfully offered,
J. Ellsworth Weaver

Reaction to photos and posting

Post Thu Feb 17, 2005 2:50 am

To me, each photo does elicit a different reaction. The color one has a warmth about it, it creates a sense of comfort and takes me back to childhood and memories of mom.

The other two photos create a totally different feeling. They appear almost foreboding, the woman's face appears quite flawed. It leaves one to wonder what is she holding? Some demon spawn child?

All in all, I find all three versions are really quite good.

Excellent work Ells,

Julie Wilcox
