nice shot benoit!

my tip would be:

correct the tilt, crop some of the left and right to get an "extreme" vertical (don't put the stair exactly into the center though) and then convert it to BW by mixing colour channels and make it look high contrast. could be worth a try.

yes, I use Photoshop CS. my technique doesn't work with PS Elements...

I took your coloured version, went to "channel mixer", selected monochrome mode, reduced the blue channel (since the stair has quite some blue in it and I wanted it to be darker compared to the wall), rised the green and red channel accordingly. then I selected a new white and black point using the gradation curve. after that I slightly corrected the tonal range. after that I ran high-level USM (unsharp mask, 0.5 pix, 50%, 0 threshold)

a lot to do but it's a thing of practice... (your pic took me 5min).

if you like, please feel free to take my version for your page.

cheers /blu

I am not to familar with Photoshop Element or Photoshop CS , so I just used basic functions like "brightness/contrast or shadow/highlight , but you had much better result. Sure I will be glad to use your version and thanks for offering it. Regards
