Winners of the 36th Show and Tell Competition

Post Mon Feb 05, 2007 2:32 pm

Thanks to all 60 plus participants
Here are your winners starting with 3 honorables

The blurry foreground silhouettes add to the intensity of the subject despite the fact that they partially block him out.

This is a solid and stylized environmental portrait. As are most of the other images in this gallery.

A simple candid, the applause sign compliments the subject and her expression perfectly.

And now your winners

3rd place
This is a gorgeous saturated color shot that I wish were mine. The only shortcoming for me is a strong sense of posing the subject and the background elements.

2nd place
This one has all the right ingrediants with the framing of the subject and the hallway.

1st place
The winner wins because of the simplicity of the composition in telling the story and the intensity of the the boy's face and the clasped hands. It's not an original composition but it is perfect in its execution. Visit this gallery and you can see several more fine examples of this type of protraiture.

Thanks Bill.

I can actually explain this photo a little bit more.
I'm taking the photo, but I'm actually on it.
I'm the guy on the right side.
I was taking a photo of my good friend Andy and I, and I decided to take a second shot focusing at 10 feet to see what was behind, and it appeared to be another friend of mine.
It was just a lucky shot, but I like it!

As always, as inspiring group of entries. Congratulations to the winners and thank you, Bill, for the honorable mention (applause lady).
