It was fun looking at all those entries and as everyone says it...it was not an easy task to choose.
Most of the pictures understood my message which resulted in lot of entries that had past the first stage. I was looking how the photographers are handling the color issue on balancing the composition. After checking them in detail i have managed to pull the following:
Honorable mentions:
Greg Bergquist
Ioana S.
Nenad Uzelac
Aaron Zeitler
Pamela Oliveras
And my three favorite for the competition are:
3rd Place:
Dennis Camp - Even though there is no color in it, the peace and tranquility sets this image to be very natural. The contrast between the soft and smooth water surface and the curved and rough texture of the leave gives this composition something that makes they eye enjoy watching it.
2nd Place:
Michael Burlak - The three color composition even though a little bit warm the lines and the texture creates a well balanced frame. The corner and the shadow part give you a well balanced 3 dimensionality.
1st Place:
Chuck Maceda - The combination of green and yellow with a cloudy blue sky makes this a well balanced composition. It's not too much nor too little! The perceptive also creates a nice dividing and "gradient" between the colors. Dramatic, but stable at the same time. I find it well balanced in sense of color, shape and texture. Well done champ
It was an honor to host this competition... and now it's up to Chuck
