Honorable mentions:
This photo wonderfully captures the morning (or evening) commute, with the rising (or setting) sun indicating time and creating an engrossing light and shadows.
The strong color, the perspective, and the lonely man ascending the stairs almost in a mirror image of image on the wall define this superb photo.
It takes a lot of trust, indeed, to ride on this overcrowded vehicle.
Third Place:
This visually striking diptych of advertisement and reality, and competing emotions, is simply excellent.
Second Place:
The dark light and the tight, visually balanced crop that just leaves the essentials signifying a journey make this a very intriguing picture.
First Place:
This photo immediately caught my attention and imagination because of its simple and balanced design, and because it captures one of those moments of emptiness and calm in a station that within a few minutes could turn into maelstrom of passengers hustling back and forth. But right now the line of chairs is largely empty and the TV set is advertising something to nobody.
