Finding Style Sheets

Post Mon Nov 30, 2009 3:45 pm

Unfortunately, some of us are not computer geeks, so we need step-by-step help.
The only way I know to get to one of my 15 Style Sheets is this:
1) Open a Gallery.
2) Click "Edit This Gallery".
3) Click "Edit Style Sheets".
Then (finally) I can see them, edit them, or make a new one.
QUESTION: Is there an easier way to get to my Style Sheets?

SECOND QUESTION: How can I get to another person's Style Sheet?
(Please don't answer "Display the Style Sheet you like" as I saw in another thread here. That's no help at all.)

Enter http://www.pbase.com/css in your browser's address bar while logged in - that should take you directly to the the page for editing or creating style sheets.

To see someone else's stylesheet: if you have the WebDeveloper add-in installed in Firefox, it's easy - there is a "View CSS" option in the CSS menu in the WebDeveloper toolbar. If you don't have this, go to "View Source" or "View Page Source" which should be somewhere on your browser menu (the exact location depends on the particular browser). At the top of the page you should see a line that looks something like
Code: Select all
<link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="http://css.pbase.com/styles/35059.css?t=1259599970">
. Copy/paste the filename (in this example "http://css.pbase.com/styles/35059.css") into your browser address bar and you should see the stylesheet they are using. Maybe there is a quicker way, I'm not sure because I always use WebDeveloper.

Thanks, that works nicely.

Here's a screen shot of one of my galleries. I can't find any "View Source" or "View Page Source".
If you see it, please point it out. http://www.pbase.com/image/119880131

I'm afraid I have no idea what that "Netscape Connect" thing is or whether it has a view source option. It looks like some kind of simplified browser so quite likely it doesn't.

If you are planning on spending time modifying the layout and appearance of your PBase pages, you might consider installing a widely used browser such as Firefox or Internet Explorer. I think people generally will find it difficult to give you advice if you are using a non-standard browser.

I have Internet Explorer, but seldom use it. Yes, it has the VIEW > SOURCE. Thanks.
