Welcome to a new competition, fellow photographers!
This theme centers on the background elements of a photograph and how strongly they can effect the entire "story" of an image.
It could be in the form of an "environmental portrait," where the background defines the subject, or their occupation, directly, or where the background gives a real sense of place to a candid or cultural portrait.
It could be a dramatic sky, an intense motion blur, or perhaps the beautiful bokeh that makes a macro or floral shot rise above the rest. It could be a background element that evokes humor or one that lends poignancy to an image. It is the one that makes the story complete, and the image would just not be as effective without it...
Here are a few examples:
"Directions"
"Generations"
"Don't Panic"
Have fun, and I look forward to seeing what you all come up with...
PS: The closing date was supposed to be automatic, but is not here, so I will say that the contest will close Thursday, May 13th, 11:59pm.
