195th Show & Tell Competition: Modes of Road Transportation

Post Mon May 02, 2011 7:02 am

It has been fun seeing the entries to this competition and extremely difficult to choose winners. I find myself drawn to the shots that directly dealt with the subject and few distractions. I particularly like those with backgrounds enhancing the subject. Needless to say there were still many shots which I had to leave out just because there were so many that I liked. AND, the runners up are:
Landscapdecor's Dad, posthumously - I love this shot - the setting is amazing and the scene with the family out for a ride is wonderful;

erichmangl: Great "playmobil" shot

christophertravels: Beautiful early morning light on this everyday scene in Shijiazhuang

sandiwhi: Great shot of this beautiful horse and Amish cart - love the background

bclaypole: Fabulous action shot

rm2: I really like the colours and the story this photo tells

akeigher: Memories of San Francisco - the bay in the background - hangers on - lovely B&W.

jojie_alcantara: I love this - the casual expressions of the riders in Phnom Penh and movement produced by the background.
h

nickviv: The little Citroen - great composition - lovely shot;

AND the winners, finally, are:
3rd place: emmelafoto - great composition and wonderful quiet mood - very nicely done.

2nd place: terry bowker: Stunning shot in central Hong Kong - I like the colours, lines and the sheer unusualness of the photo.

1st place: andrewd_za: I liked all three of your entries but especially this one. The quiet mood, beautiful gentle hues and perfect composition.

Congratulations Andrew

Nice contest and nice choice of winners. Thanks for the HM and that (motocross rider) shot was a fluke as the rider was upwards of 50mph and an inch from the camera.

Hi Gill,

If he has not started a new contest by morning, I will start a new one unless someone has a better idea.

Cheers,

It's a shame, but if you're going to participate in a contest, you have to remember to check in and see if you might just have won. I agree Terry, that tomorrow is long enough to wait. We're all chomping at the bit for the next contest.

First of all let me once again congratulate andrewd_za on his first place image. I imagine that he is busy traveling or does not have access to the internet. In the interest of the other Pbasers’ who would like to start a contest soon I will reluctantly start a new contest this morning.

Cheers,

Terry

Terry go ahead and start the thread, this has been far to long to wait.
I really appreciate Emily and Slug help with this tread with the automation but the down side is situations like this where in the past the second place person would pick up the ball in 48 hours or so.
If it is possible for Emily and Slug to tweak the the automation to allow for a 48-72 hours period before second place gets the start button.
