A beachcomber is someone who "combs" (or searches) the beach, looking for things of value, interest or utility.
I am fortunate to live in an island nation, near the coast. When I get the chance, I like to wander along a beach, photographing whatever catches my eye. The location, lighting, time of day, and weather all define the subject. Sometimes I'll look out to sea, for the seascapes, sometimes I'll look down, at details on the ground. Sometimes the subject is natural, sometimes the work of people. People can be in the picture, but they are usually incidental.
I apologise if you live inland, many miles from any large body of water, as this theme may not be easy for you!
As the judge and curator of this contest, I can put up several examples. Here they are.
