Third Place: One of ten courses at a dinner in Momoyama Onsen by Ken Zaret, great presentation and use of light.


Second Place: Leberkas und Bier by Markus Grompe. A wonderful meal of local specialties enjoyed in the open air.


First Place: Jasja van Leeuwen with this superb photo. I have no idea what this dish is but I see layers of beautifully prepared and presented complex specialties, browned around the edges, drizzled with rich sauce and garnished with fresh greens.

Wow! Just before leaving on a short holiday I checked out this page - almost having forgotten that I had entered.

I won! Thank you Arnie for choosing my picture, that was a big and welcome surprise.

The dish was served in Hotel Brull in the Netherlands by chef Jo Kockelkoren. I visit there once a year for a family reunion, and he always serves wonderful imaginative and original dishes with strong tastes. I can't recall exactly what this was, but the dark part was blood sausage, served with some kind of terrine I think.

I will try and post a new competition tomorrow at the latest - now I have to continue packing my camera for a trip to France...
